In this quick video tutorial I would like to show how to add custom userdata icons in Cinema 4D

In one of  my previous tutorials I have showed how to add default cinema 4d icons for to use as userdata icons. But what if there is no icon from between in default icons. It’s time to learn how to create our own icons. Since each icon has a unique id number we have to define a script first. To do that create a null or click on an object which has a userdata in attributes panel, and from basic tab right click on Visible in Editor option and Xpressions – Create Script. Delete default script and click edit from top menu – Render Icon. It will render your current scene as a thumbnailicon. Now we have a ID for this icon to find it open Customize Commands from Window menu. And write our script’s name in Name Filter box. When you find the icon you have just created below you will see an ID number for this icon (or script). We can now use it as a custom userdata icon in cinema 4d. If you are planning to work on another computer you will need to export it as CSC file.

If you save your script it will be added into user library scripts folder.
